9 Year Old With TMJ Ankylosis

This 9 year old girl could not open her mouth and had severe insecurity over how she talks and couldn’t eat real food. Her dad died and mom abandoned her so her grandma is raising her. She had TMJ ankylosis (fused joints) and we released her joints and place rib grafts until she’s old enough to get a full joint replacement. Completed in 2025! Thank you to our Donors and Surgeons!

Reflections: Dr. Simon Oh @subwrx04

“Just 2 months post op from TMJ surgery by @dr.z.brown 👏👏👏. Went from 3mm of opening to this. She had her first Big Mac!”

“Noelia needs our help. This 9 year old has TMJ Ankylosis, meaning her TM joints are fused preventing her from opening her mouth more than a few millimeters. She can’t eat normal foods and has severe insecurity over how she speaks.

The plan is to release her TM Joints and graft with portions of her ribs until she is old enough for a total joint replacement.

If you would like to donate to the cause please visit Smileback.org for more info. The Smile Back Foundation is a public charity with a 501c3 designation for tax write offs.

Thanks to @dr.z.brown @hashtagomfs @patelomfs @dr.g.dmd.omfs @robertofuentesvelasquez @odontologiaufm @chichu99 for your efforts in helping this young girl.”
